This can’t wait
By: Leslie B. Williamson
We can have the best intentions, but sometimes in our day to day life we can become distracted. I received a phone call from a very dear friend who wanted to check on me to see why I hadn’t submitted an article last week. My only disclaimer was that I had gotten busy and missed my deadline. I had to chuckle to myself because she was right, and I had to remember that people were depending on me. In my mind, I thought about all the other readers that were wondering the same thing. So, I said to myself, “Leslie, you’ve got to do better girl”! Even though I had other priorities, I had mismanaged my day to an extent.
Today, while doing my grocery shopping, I ran into another beautiful friend who told me how much she enjoyed the inspiration and it was then that I looked up at the clock and I was on the cusp of another deadline. I thanked her for “reminding” me once again because time was fleeting! She laughed and we parted ways as I hurried home to get on my desktop.
On the way home, I engaged in a prayer with the Father. I began to repent for allowing other things to take precedence over what was most important. I had even missed my quiet time with him in prayer because of the hustle of what the day required of me. I started thinking how the Savior had never put me on hold nor has He ever said to me, “Hold that thought, I’ll be right back”. Never has He ever put off my needs for something else and I should never do that where He is concerned.
In the time in which we live, we can easily get sidetracked and before you know it, your work for the Master has come and gone. If you do that enough times, there won’t be enough time in your schedule for Him. Remember that movie with Warren Beatty called “Heaven Can Wait”, well I submit to you today, Heaven can’t wait! There should be nothing in your daily schedule that will deter you from spending quality time with you Creator. Can you imagine the shape we would be in if He did the same to us?
Regardless of what any of us are going through at this present time, there is no excuse. The Father loves us so much and He wants to spend time with us to share His heart and His plan for our lives. He wants us to be in a place where He can speak to us and give us instruction.
I know for myself that when my husband gets too busy, I make a bold declaration that I need his time and attention. Father God is saying the same thing to many of you today beloveds. Repent from your pattern of neglect and reposition yourself. There is so much He wants to share with you. He has the answers to the things you have been perplexed about and preoccupied with. Drop what you are doing and give God your whole attention. This is how we create a true relationship with him. Seek Him while He may be found and please take my plea seriously. We are in a different dispensation and a whole different realm of grace. His grace is indeed sufficient, but what do you have to offer Him? This can’t wait!
