WILLIAMSON: Making things make sense
In our current environment, we can be one of two things. We can go overboard and live in fear, or we can completely trust The Most High to keep us and our loved ones safe during these turbulent times.
I believe that God did His best to try to forewarn us and prepare us for the things that we are experiencing and for the things to come, but our human mentality sometimes fights against it. We try to understand how children and the elderly can be murdered without a thought and ask,
“How could God let this happen?”
He told us in the scriptures that there are certain things that “must be” and that there were reasons why they must happen. We sometimes only read portions of the Bible that make us happy and secure, but if you read it all, you will see that He has equipped His children for the days that will be scary and uncertain to those who don’t believe. We are in this world, but we are not of this world and we are here to make a difference and set an example.
As believers, we can’t crumble as do those who don’t believe. We are here to stand strong in faith in the times of adversity.
The only thing that makes sense sometimes is to just trust His Word. His Word is true and forever settled in heaven. He has given us so many promises and He keeps every one of them. He knows the number of hairs upon our head and he knows the number of our days. Our finite minds can never make sense of some of the things that are happening among us today but we can rest assured that The One Who is seated upon His throne knows all and will keep and provide for those who are called His own. If there ever was a time to abide by His Word, it’s now. It will prepare and keep us in the times to come.
God is sovereign and reigns forevermore. Take Him by His capable hand and allow Him to lead you to those green pastures where there is peace and tranquility while everything else around you may be falling apart. It’s not our job to worry, but it is our job to live upright and trust God like never before. I think sometimes that we need that solid slap that mammy had to give the distraught and flailing southern belle to bring her back to her senses.
There is a time to absorb the things that occur, but thereafter, we must gather ourselves together and focus on our assignments as believers.
My prayer today is that you will find yourselves seeking the face of The Most High and His will. It will benefit you in the times ahead my friends. Every blessing to you all.
