Masons celebrate 150th anniversary
For 150 years, Hartsville Masonic Lodge No. 173 has served the community. The lodge held an anniversary celebration in December.
Chartered in 1872, the mission of the Masons is to foster personal growth and improve the lives of others, carried out through Masonic principles and tradition.
The lodge has grown from a handful of dedicated men at its charter to more than 500 members in the early 1970s. Today, the lodge has 233 members.
Lodge members take part in numerous effort to support the community. Among their many endeavors, each year the club presents two college scholarships, donate bicycles at Christmas, present portraits of George Washington to local schools, provide care packages to the Carriage House, and hold at annual trunk-or-treat event.
Hartsville Masonic Lodge No. 173 is currently located at 411 West Home Avenue.
