Christian Recovery meeting location Due to construction, Christian Recovery now meets at New Providence Baptist Church, 1884 Antioch Road at the corner of North Center Road. Hartsville Farmers Markets Your Hartsville Farmers Market will be open on the second Saturday of each month. The event is Downtown on E. Carolina Avenue from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and features local produce, craftsmen, non-profit organizations, and fun food.

SPC Credit Union Free Community Shred Day Mark your calendars. SPC and Shur Shred are sponsoring a free community shred day on August 14th at the SPC main branch. The Shur Shred truck will be located directly behind the Center Theater. Be sure to come by and securely shred your confidential documents that are no longer needed!

Outdoor Basketball Court Ribbon Cutting The public is invited to join the City of Hartsville Parks and Recreation Department as they host a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially recognize the opening of the outdoor basketball court on the campus of Byerly Park outside of the Coach T.B. Thomas Sport Center. This event is free and will be on Wednesday, August 14th beginning at 10 a.m. at 701 West Washington Street.

Carolina Pines Lunch and Learn Join in for a Lunch-and-Learn on August 15th at 12 p.m. with John T. Atkins lll, MD, FCCP. This is a free event so come out and be informed.

Clyde Church of God Widow’s Group Come join us for a new local widow’s group. The first meeting to be held will be Friday, August 23rd at 6:30 p.m. at the Hartsville Shoney’s in the reserved room. Everyone is welcomed. This is a ministry of Clyde Church of God.

Hartsville Police Department & Fire Department Join in for a night full of fun in Burry Park on August 24th, sponsored by Hartsville Police Department and Hartsville Fire Department. The fun will kick off from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. with music, fun activities, free food, meet and greet with first responders and more. Stick around Burry Park because Screen on the Green will begin around 8:45 p.m. featuring Aquaman.

Screen on the Green Grab a blanket or a chair and meet up at Burry Park, 131 Cargill Way, for Hartsville’s free summer movie series. These events are free. Children and leashed pets are welcome. The movies start at dusk. In case of rain, Screen on the Green will be held at Coach T.B. Thomas Sports Center. August 24th: National Night Out, Aquaman sponsored by Hartsville Police Department and Hartsville Fire Department.

HYP Doggie Dash 5K The entire community is invited to join Hartsville Young Professionals on Saturday, August 17th for a 5K benefiting Byerly Park’s Dog Park. This race is aimed to raise $5000 for additions and improvements to the existing area at Byerly Park. This race is dog friendly.The race will start at 8 a.m. in front of the Hartsville YMCA.

Jerusalem Baptist Church Annual Taste of Jerusalem Jerusalem Baptist Church, 301 S. Sixth St., will sponsor its 9th Annual Taste of Jerusalem on Saturday, August 24th from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. in the Fellowship Center. The event is coordinated by the JBC club. City Council meeting Hartsville City Council holds regular council meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, found on the first floor of City Hall, 100 East Carolina Ave. Notification of special meetings is provided at least 24 hours in advance, and agendas are posted in the alcove outside of Council Chambers.

Living Well with Diabetes Support Group The Support Group will meet the second Thursday of every month in the Education Classroom, directly before the Carolina Cafe’ cafeteria. Join this beneficial and educational forum for diabetics and their family members.
