Darlington High School's Kadasia Evans recently signed a letter of intent to compete for the Coastal Carolina University track and field team next year. The ceremony was held inside Darlington High School's conference room with family, friends and coaches.

DARLINGTON, S.C. – Darlington High School’s track and field star Kadasia Evans will compete next year for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. 

The school held a signing ceremony for Evans on Friday, where her family, friends and coaches joined in to celebrate. 

Darlington High School Principal Cortney Gehrke praised Evans’ spirit and work ethic.

“Kadasia is not only an outstanding athlete, but she is also an outstanding student,” Gehrke said. “She is willing to work hard and keep a positive attitude. I look forward to news of her future success at Coastal.”

During the past several years, Evans emerged as a premier athlete in the state. 

She is a four-time state champion in the high jump and a five-time region champion in the high jump. She is a two-time region champion in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. 

She holds school records in the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches), the 100-meter hurdles (15.82 seconds), and the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.62). She is also a member of the school’s 4x400-meter record-holding relay team.
