Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery presents Katy Mixon’s “Act of God”
Coker University’s Cecelia Coker Bell Gallery presents a mixed media exhibit titled “act of God” by Orangeburg artist, Katy Mixon. The exhibition begins with a reception at 7 p.m. on Monday October 21, and will run through Friday, November 15. The opening reception is free, open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
Ms. Mixon, a visual artist working in painting, sculpture, and photography, is a recipient of a 2017 Working Artist Grant and a 2015 Ruth and Harold Chenven Foundation Award. She was a finalist for a 2016 William and Dorothy Yeck Award and 2015 VCUarts Fountainhead Fellowship.
Mixon was an artist-in-residence at The Hambidge Center, GA, AICAD Studio Practice Residency, NY and Byrdcliffe Art Colony, NY. Her work was recently exhibited at Torpedo Factory, VA, Ceres Gallery, NY, Spartanburg Art Museum, SC, Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, NC, and Ackland Art Museum, NC.
Mixon received her Bachelor of Arts from Davidson College in 2006, and her Masters of Fine Arts from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2015.
